Winnie the Pooh Bear Cake

For Monique Russo's baby shower

Monique will be having her first born in March, a girl to be named Ariel. My sister thew her a wonderful Winnie the Pooh Bear- themed baby shower. She asked me to make the cake keeping Monique's favorite flavors in mind. The shower was this past weekend and we all had a blast! So much Italian food but only one stomach to fill.

Cake: Bottom tier is banana cake & vanilla cinnamon swirl cake, brown sugar caramel icing & fresh bananas. The middle tier is vanilla cinnamon swirl cake with yellow buttercream. The top tier is chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.

Details: GIANT CHOCOLATE POOH BEAR MOLD. Fondant, edible grass candy, numerous piping icings, yellow jelly beans, spice drops, the honey pot is a chocolate cupcake with fondant and melted peanut butter poured on top.

Barney & Bieber Cake

My cousin Stephanie has two clones that she has been trying to pass off as her "daughters" for a very long time now. Keeping up with the charade, she had a joint birthday party for them this past weekend and requested I make the cakes! And they are free-hand baby!!!!

This one was for SOFIA, age 2.

REJOICING BARNEY CAKE

Cake: Chocolate cake with Oreo cookies & cream icing and vanilla buttercream frosting.

Details: White fondant, black, white, purple & green piping icing

This one was for GIANNA, age 6.

JUSTIN BIEBER CAKE (most horrifying cake as of yet)

Cake: Vanilla with vanilla cream cheese frosting.

Details: Black & Purple fondant. Vanilla frosting dyed various colors, purple, white, black and chocolate piping icing.

Bleeding Armadillo Cake

For Laura

Cake: Red velvet with cream cheese frosting

Details: Grey Fondant, grey piping icing, 1 cupcake, 4 mini cupcakes, eyes & toes are mini M&Ms

A friend of mine, Jennifer McCumisky that I haven't seen since high school contacted me to make this cake for her cousin, Laura's 25th birthday. She explained to me that she's been dying to get her a "bleeding armadillo" cake for a very long time now. The bleeding armadillo cake is a traditional cake given to the groom at a wedding, made famous by the film "Steel Magnolias" -- it's the shape of the armadillo made with red velvet cake -- hence the "bleeding" part of it.

I didn't mean for it to come out this cute, but it's adorable isn't it?

Church is every a new WIDE open mic at Legion Bar (790 Metropolitan Ave. Bklyn, NY) every last Sunday of the month!

Here's a little about them:

Church is a forum to show off whatever you're working on or want to try - as polished or off the cuff as you'd like. Read a section of your Great American Novel or the nutrition facts off the back of your beer can. If you're in a band, come improvise, play a new version of your classic or that weird song you'd never get to play under your normal moniker. Make a cartoon! Do stand-up! Screen a video! Narrate a photo slide show of the family trip to Orlando! This is the outlet for it all.

Church is the extra push to help you complete your work or idea each month, and a reason to inspire new ones. There's a deadline every fourth Sunday and your friends will be waiting!

Raw Chocolate & Spice Cupcakes

Cake: Bitter chocolate with chilli powder and cayenne pepper

Icing: Coffee fudge ganache with walnuts

This was another experiment. Either you love them or you hate them. Either way, they'll spice up your life like your having a good time.

Sam's Underwear Cake

For Sam Branman

Cake: Black cherry forest cake (get it?) made with cherry coke and fresh imported black cherries! With cherry vanilla icing.

Details: Pink Fondant, coconut (dyed black) & white piping icing.

Sam Branman is a longtime friend of mine and a fine gentleman at that... at least when he's outdoors. But as soon as he is indoors, off comes the pants! For years Sam's been frolicking around our apartments, no pants, no shame, no problem. This cake was for his 24th birthday and I may say, it's a pretty accurate replica of his entire pelvic area.

HOWEVER! It was also two other friends birthdays!!

For Rachel Hauer we made her a chocolate brownie with strawberry icing:

Mia Cake

For Mia Tortora

Cake: Chocolate and Funfetti cake with vanilla icing as well as cappuccino cookies and cream icing.

Details: White & teal fondant. Black fondant spray. White & yellow piping icing. There's also a milk chocolate ganache on top.

This cake was made by Anastasia Tortora with my help! Mia was turning 21, so Anastasia designed this one-of-a-kind cake for her cousin after her love for playing the piano and all things beautiful.
