A friend of mine, Jennifer McCumisky that I haven't seen since high school contacted me to make this cake for her cousin, Laura's 25th birthday. She explained to me that she's been dying to get her a "bleeding armadillo" cake for a very long time now. The bleeding armadillo cake is a traditional cake given to the groom at a wedding, made famous by the film "Steel Magnolias" -- it's the shape of the armadillo made with red velvet cake -- hence the "bleeding" part of it.

I didn't mean for it to come out this cute, but it's adorable isn't it?
